Under the sea

...under the sea! I'll stop singing along to The Little Mermaid now...

It probably won't come as a surprise that I adore the Lawn Fawn stamps that have under the sea critters! I've made a couple of projects recently which used mostly new stamps and dies but also an older set.

We had a special birthday meal whilst on holiday in the Isles of Scilly and I wanted to make some little place names (with a surprise treat inside!) using the Lawn Fawn Candy Box die.

As we were by the seaside, it was an easy choice to pick my favourite under the sea images!

Here's a look at the different boxes I made...

I used them to hide two Ferrero Rocher's inside whilst they doubled up as place names. I used Copics to colour the images and Milo's ABC's to stamp each name.

I also made a card to say 'thanks' as we had the most wonderful time on holiday. I used the  'Life is Good' stamp and die set from Lawn Fawn and a lot of foam dots!

So glad to finally share these projects with you - let's hope the sun comes out again in August so more days at the beach can be had :)

A bear, a bunny and a balloon

We had a special 60th birthday a few days ago and I wanted to make a card to go with our surprise presents. The 'Woodland Gift' stamp set from Mama Elephant was so perfect for this idea as the cute animals can hold gifts and treats!

The grass and sky were created in a similar way to my last card, using Distress Inks and lots of water. I stamped the bear, bunny, balloon and log and coloured with copics before cutting out with the coordinating dies - I trialled doing partial cuts with the dies and it worked a treat! The balloon and bunny are all one piece but I die cut them using the edge of my cuttlebug B plates. An amazing idea (one I think I saw Jennifer Mcguire use) and will definitely try it again when I need two images to look like one.

The sentiment was stamped with a WPlus9 stamp and I added a touch of Wink of Stella clear to the balloon to add some sparkle and shine.

I'm really loving the Mama Elephant stamps at the moment (don't worry, a Lawn Fawn card is coming up shortly!). There are lots of new release sneak peeks being shown and new products going on sale in the next few weeks so I can't wait to see what I'm going to add to my crafty wish list! :o)

You're awesome

It's been a busy month for crafting and my little craft room has been a mess for way too long because of it (but that's how it should be!). I've got lots to share but wanted to start with this card I made using my new Mama Elephant 'Three Amigos' stamp set and dies. I've been wanting to use this little fox for ages and found the perfect moment - my super lovely friend Lynn (aka mrsmummypenny) left our team at work recently and I wanted to let her know how awesome she is. It wasn't goodbye so to speak so a 'sorry you're leaving' or 'I'll miss you' card just didn't feel right.

I used Distress inks to create a watercolour look for the sky and grass and stamped the clouds using a Lawn Fawn set. I wanted the fox to be the star of the show so left the background fairly simple. I stamped the fox and sentiment with Memento Tuxedo black ink and coloured it with copics before die cutting it out. I wanted a little seat for him so used the log image in the Mama Elephant 'Woodlands Gift' stamp set.

I couldn't resist adding a touch of sparkle with a few sequins!

Thanks for stopping by - you're awesome too!

Be my love bug

It was our eighth anniversary at the beginning of the month (plus a year since we got engaged), so I wanted to make a special card. I chose the Bugs and Kisses set from Lawn Fawn to create a shaker card...

I made a frame using the stitched rectangle dies and coloured it with the barn door distress ink to make it a bright red. I cut the word 'love' using the Lawn Fawn die from red glitter paper and coloured the ladybugs using copics.

I used a CD pocket to create the 'shaker' part of the card which I stamped 'be my' and 'bug' using cotton white StazOn - the letters really show up when you give it a good shake! Inside the two plastic sleeves are a mixture of heart sequins and black round ones too...like the spots of the ladybugs.

I also created a little bumblebee for the envelope!

Hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by :)

Gleeful Gardens

A special someone turned 90 this week so I wanted to create a special card to celebrate. As a keen gardener, choosing Lawn Fawn's Gleeful Garden set was an obvious choice!

I decided to make a little garden scene so I die cut a mini hill and coloured it with Distress Inks. I used the grassy border die to create the strands of grass. As this die cuts the grass straight, I cut it into sections and adhered it to the back of the mini hill so they followed the curve.

I used one of the stitched rectangle dies to cut out the mini hill/grass section and the sky to make the background. As the UK card sizes are taller than the rectangles, I lengthened the two sections so it would match the size of my base card (A6).

It was so much fun colouring the little bird in all those different colours using Copics. There is a layer of Wink of Stella on top too, it's so sparkly in real life!

I used Mama Elephant's Sketchy Letters to create the 'happy' and the 'birthday' was from Lawn Fawn's Baked With Love. I used VersaMark ink to stamp them and sprinkled a silver embossing powder from Papermania over the top - I love watching it melt!

I also added a sparkly silver '90' inside the card but forgot to take a photo - whoops!

Thanks for stopping by!

Fancy a cupcake?

I needed to rustle up a super quick card recently for a birthday but I still wanted it to feel special. I love baking (especially cupcakes!) so decided to use the 'Baked with Love' set but have a cupcake as the main feature - pretty difficult considering the image is tiny compared to the size of a card!

I cut a panel from kraft paper using a Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle and created a background on top using a selection of the stamps and VersaMark ink. Next, I cut a stitched circle and used Distress Ink on the edge to soften the contrast between the kraft paper and white circle. I created the stand and cupcake with the stamps and dies to match and coloured them with just a few copics. Although I was going for 'quick and simple', I couldn't leave it without any sequins so added a couple of pink and white ones to add some a small amount of glitz!

I really fancy whipping up a delicious vanilla cupcake to match! :o)

Shake, shake, shake!

I absolutely love shaker cards so couldn't resist making another one (I mean two) using a couple of different sets. I wanted to use the same design for both but tried one as a 3D shaker and the other as a flat design so the shaker is inside the layers.

First up is my favourite of the two which uses Lawn Fawn's 'chit chat' stamps and dies. The pink mini heart paper is so sweet and made a perfect frame for the little birdies! I filled the shaker with a ton of sequins and micro beads so it didn't look too empty when standing up. The happy birthday sentiment has Wink of Stella on top but it's hard to capture!

The second uses the set 'Baked with Love' plus their coordinating dies. I choose pink, mint and cream for the colour scheme and opted for polka dot paper. I wanted to include cupcakes with the sequins and they work really well when you give it a good shake!

Hope you like my two shaker cards, thanks for stopping by!

Cheeky little monkey

Thought I'd swing by with a card I made for our gorgeous nephew for his 1st birthday later this month. I can't believe how long it's taken me to showcase a shaker card as they are my absolute favourite! The focus is the cheeky little monkey from Lawn Fawn's Critters in the jungle set. As well as Pretty Pink Posh sequins, I wanted the bananas to shake around so there are four bunches included. I created a watercolour background for the shaker using a mixture of greens and browns and Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink for the edges of the card.

Here's a little tag I made to go with the card - thanks for stopping by!

Mother's Day cards

To celebrate Mother's Day this year I wanted to use my Gleeful Gardens set from Lawn Fawn (do you get the impression I'm obsessed with Lawn Fawn?!). To keep things simple, I used a couple of circle dies to make the background, coloured the images with copics and adhered them to the card using 3D foam pads.

I was going to add lots of sequins but decided not to in the end - there is sparkle on the snail shells and mushrooms but you can't see very well in the photos (must try harder to capture it next time!).

Wishing my Mum a very Happy Mother's Day - hi Mum! :o)

March haul - Lawn Fawn and Pretty Pink Posh

Yippee!! I had a couple of exciting parcels arrive in the post over the last few days. First was a package full of Lawn Fawn stamps and dies from Once Upon A Stamp which were my pre-ordered items from the latest release.

My second parcel came from Paulina who owns Pretty Pink Posh. I ordered my first selection of lovely sequins to add to my collection - they are perfect for a shaker card!

I was so excited to see the 'Baked with Love' set as I do love to bake! The KitchenAid is adorable, I'll have to colour it to match my own!

My wishes came true when I saw the 'Critters in the Jungle' set as I asked for this on the Lawn Fawn Flickr group - hurray!! The parrot is so cute :)

'Gleeful Gardens' was the third set I picked (it was very difficult not adding all of the new release to my basket!). The snails are really sweet and I love the idea of the mushrooms making a little scene - not to mention the hummingbird!

Couldn't resist the new Let's Polka Mon Amie paper set and the puffy stars/small stitched square dies too.

Can't wait to use them all soon!
